Possible to Program Land Cruiser TPMS IDs with VXDIAG Toyota Techstream?

Background:
Wrongfully assumed loading new TPMS IDs was as easy as my 2006 Land Cruiser.
Vehicle in question is a 2015 LC, 09/2014 build date

First attempt:
Steps I have taken so far
  • Attempted with Techstream V13 something and a V1.4.1 mini mini cable
  • Attempted with Techstream V14 something and a V2.0.4 mvci cable
  • Attempted with Techstream V14 something and a V1.4.1 mini vci cable
Cables connect, Techstream works fine, fails on the same screen when it tries to write sensor IDs to the vehicle, gives t "ground terminal blah blah blah
Throughout this all I can read TPMS codes, read live data, clear codes, all other modules perform normally.
One thing I noticed is that both cables pass the CAN test but both fail the K line and L Line test.

Second attempt:
I emailed Drew Tech regarding their Mongoose cable and they could not confirm or deny that it would allow you to set TPMS IDs on a 2015 LC. That's a little disappointing for a $500 cable.

Third attempt:
I have looked at the Autel offerings but not in depth. A friend of mine got a Autel TS408 and OEM sensor.  He was managed to program it to a 2013 LC200. A $250 tool that's a 1 time fee is a lot more my speed than a phone/subscription based service.

Fourth attempt:
Tonight I got my VXDiag VCX Nano for Toyota from vxdiagshop and set it up. Installation was pretty painless, shows up as another VCI option in Techstream once you install the drivers.
What I noticed right away was communication with the vehicle was faster - way faster. even than the 2.0.x mini VCI cable.
I had the most success connecting the VCX Nano to my PC, opening the utility software that comes with the VCX Nano and making sure its all good in the hood, then starting Techstream.
Went to load up my new TPMS sensor IDs and it loaded them quickly and painlessly.
Viewed sensor data and the new IDs are loaded in.
The decision to do OEM sensors programmed through Techstream came down to a few things.
  • Closest Discount Tire is an hour away, local Mom and Pop shop has always treated me right - but I bought 4 wheels with tires and 4 more tires in the bed of a pickup to them so no option to program my vehicle
  • I highly value being able to do service myself, even if it means spending lots of money on tools.
  • I wanted to keep my original wheels and tires mounted and ready to go for winter or just because I want to sell my LC with the OEM wheels and tires, since a set of 5 mounted and balanced Rock Warriors/All Terrains with LC TPMS pull a premium.
  • Wanted OEM sensors
  • Subscription based services/tools rub me the wrong way even if they are the cost effective solution.
  • VXDIAG VCX Nano + 5 Denso TPMS sensors cost me $240.
  • I learned a lot, and that is priceless.
The TPMS listed by Denso for my 2015 LC do not work. I had to order ones for a 2014. Those program and worked perfectly. I have a Sept 2014 built 2015 LC.

VXDIAG Ford IDS V116 failed to Work on Expedition 2018?

Question:
I have installed the IDS V116 software for vxdiag vcx nano Ford. After connect with Expedition 2018, IDS will read vehicle model and engine, but it won't access to other function.
Gave error "use only Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) for this vehicle."
Ford Ids V116 2018 Expedition 1
Ford Ids V116 2018 Expedition 2
Ford Ids V116 2018 Expedition 3
Solution:
It indicates that Ford IDS won't work on this model.
So the IDS won't diagnose this vehicle, the Snap on won't diagnose it. Can't even read any modules besides the basic Generic OBD II data. Ford has a few vehicles already that are only able to be diaged with the FDRS, and more are being added each year.

Ford IDS:
Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS) - The factory Ford Motor Company vehicle diagnostic software provides complete dealership level vehicle diagnostic coverage for all 1996 to present Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. IDS is a flexible diagnostic tool that utilizes standard computing platforms to work with Ford's VCM, VCM II, VCMM and VMM devices. The IDS software license includes time based access to the IDS software, software updates and calibration files.

Ford FDRS:
Ford Diagnostic & Repair System (FDRS) - The next generation factory Ford Motor Company vehicle diagnostic Software designed for use with VCM II, VCMM and J2534 compatible Vehicle Communications Interfaces (VCI). FDRS provides complete dealership level vehicle diagnostic coverage for some 2018 and forward vehicles. FDRS provides superior capabilities, is more user-friendly and provides more diagnostic tools than IDS. The cloud-based system ensures the technician is provided the latest software every time FDRS logs into the Ford network.

VXDIAG Ford IDS Review on Transit MK7

Purpose of buying:
My VCM2 stopped working from one day to the other. So I  bought the vxdiag vcx nano for Ford interface which was told to be an alternative to VCM2.
I purchased the vcx nano here, cheap $85 wifi version with free shipping
http://www.vxdiagshop.com/wholesale/vxdiag-vcx-nano-for-ford-mazda-2-in-1-wifi-version.html
Few days later it arrived.
I heard many rumors about VXDIAG; work on VMware only, require change time zone, not able to do coding, not able to do reflashing, bla bla... So I decided to test it.
First lookup
This thing is HUGE. It is about 20cm long, what makes it nearly impossible to use it while driving. I got a OBD extension loom for a fiver, problem solved.
Connector to PC is a micro USB... I am a little concerned how long this will last when roughly used, but the plug sits very tight, so I don't mind any improvements now. If it starts to wiggle one day, I'll stick it with hot glue or epoxy.
Software installation
I installed the software and driver on CD follow the video guide they send me. You can also download vx manager from their website, disable antivirus software, and simple let the installer run. I install IDS v114 on a native machine. No VMware or virtual machine needed. No problems. Soon after first connect it told me that a new firmware was released 1 week ago - this shows me that those guys are working on their products, which is a large plus point in my opinion. Firmware flash was piece of cake within 1 min.
YOU DO NOT CLOSE VX MANAGER AFTER CLICKING RUN! VX MANAGER MUST STAY OPEN ALL THE TIME!
Now run IDS - a VCM2 appears in IDS and you go on as always.
Doing IDS
As mentioned above, some people state weird things about the VXDIAG. It can only read fault codes, you can't reflash, you can't modify....I can tell you what I have done yet (on MK7):
- PATS coding (works)
- enabling second battery (works)
- BCM swap (works)
- Modify BCM with engineering mode of IDS (works)
I successfully updated the pcm on an Mk7 with an out-of-the-box vcx nano and everything worked out fine.
So be sure what and where you buy. Fake vxdiag is recogniseable if you look at the black OBD connector; the genuine one has a serial number laser engraved on it.
Summary
I am very impressed and happy with the VXDIAG Ford IDS, it does everything my VCM2 did, and it still works till now.
If you are looking for a IDS capable diagnosis tool, this thing is DEFINITELY worth looking at it.

Possible to Print to a PDF File in VXDIAG GDS2?

Yes, VXDIAG GM GDS2 software allows to print out diagnosis ID report HTML file to PDF format.
Here's the brief guide to follow:

When running Vehicle DTC and ID Information in the GDS2 application, it will run the Vehicle DTC service to check all vehicle modules for DTCs. When the Vehicle DTC check is complete, GDS 2 will produce an ID report containing specific vehicle-related data.
The report is created as a web-based HTML file. However, there may be circumstances when it would be helpful to save the report as a PDF file. The GDS2 software cannot be used to create a PDF file, but this functionality does exist as part of the Windows 10 Operating System.

TIP: Any report within GDS 2 that is created as an HTML file can be saved as a PDF file using these instructions. Test this function on Windows 10 PC.  Not sure if it works on other operating system.

Use the following instructions to save the ID report HTML file in a PDF format.
Save as PDF Format
  1. Select the Vehicle DTC and ID information. (Fig. 1)
Gds2 Data Print 1
  1. From this page, select File, and then the Print function. (Fig. 2)
Gds2 Data Print 2
  1. Under the Select Printer feature, select the Microsoft Print to PDF option. (Fig. 3)
Gds2 Data Print 3
  1. Enter your file name and select the file location where you wish to save the PDF file. It will then be saved to your PC for reference.

How to Solve Techstream TPMS ID Registration Failed Error?

Here's the working solution if you get an error when using Techstream to write new Toyota TPMS sensor IDs
"ID registration failed due to a communication error with the ECU while in initialization mode."

Model example:
2015 Land Cruiser, US Model

Possible reason that cause the error:
The issue is the TIS cable.  It is not with the Techstream version, 32 bit or 64 bit operating system on your laptop.

Analysis:
It is with the Mini VCI clone cable. Both firmware versions 1.4.x and 2.0.x will have the same issue. To troubleshoot this I tried Win 7 64 Bit, Win XP, three versions of Techstream, V10, V13, and V14. All had the ID Registration error using four different mini VCI cables, two of each firmware version with at least three different hardware configurations. I think the two 1.4.x cables I had were identical.
The solution to write TPMS IDs using Techstream is to get a VXDiag VCX Nano cable. I got the Toyota specific one from vxdiagshop.com.
VXDIAG VCX NANO for TOYOTA TIS Techstream V14.00.018  WIFI Version
This cable reads and writes to the ECU much faster than the Mini VCI cables and writes the TPMS IDs quickly and easily.
Once I got the cable situation sorted, my TPMS sensors were not showing up in Techstream, only my spare which I had moved from position 2 to position 5 in the data list was showing up. So I knew the data was written correctly but the sensors were not reading.
I had ordered the 550-0105 sensors based on Denso's website listing for a 2015 Land Cruiser.
Pacific PN PMV-C010 came in the Denso box labelled 550-0105
I did some more reading and it turned out there was a VIN split for 2015 but I was having a hard time finding exactly which sensor I needed. I split one of my stock wheels and took out the TPMS. That TPMS had Pacific PN PMV-107J.
I was able to cross Pacific PMV-107J to Denso 550-0103 which is listed for a 2014 Land Cruiser.
Ordered up a set of the 550-0103 sensors. The sensors in the 550-0103 box were labelled PMV-C11A
I dismounted the tires on my Rock Warriors and pulled out the TPMS sensors, swapped the new 550-0103 sensors, wrote the sensor IDs to the ECU using the VCX Nano cable, and immediately saw all 5 TPMS values reported. Life is good again.
Short version:
Mini VCI cables will not write TPMS IDs using Techstream - No matter which firmware. Don't waste time trying.
2015 Land Cruiser TPMS are affected by a VIN split - easiest way to get the right part number is to pull one tire off the bead and confirm what model of TPMS you have. Otherwise you can order by VIN from Partsouq or similar but I got a LOT of conflicting information which is why I just dismounted one of my stock take-offs to confirm.

VXDIAG VCX NANO Toyota Prius Feedback

Here vxdiagshop.com gathers positive and negative feedback on VXDIAG VCX NANO for Toyota Techstream working on Prius hybrid cars.

Credit to all vxdiag users.
1)2004 Prius i-Tech
Techstream is definitely the way to go, Torque is very good to monitor things and for certain DTC's. To do proper diagnostics, you need more. I recently sourced VXDIAG VCX Nano with TIS capability, works like charm ($69) I also used do complete brake calibration on one of our car and found some more serious issue on the other one. I regret to wasting my time with apps what you mentioned.

2) 2005 Prius II
My preferred scanner is a VXDIAG.
It is much faster and more reliable than the Mini VCI cables, It uses Techstream just as the Mini VCI.
The VXDIAG uses it's own firmware. It connects and reads codes much quicker than a Mini VCI cable.

3)2012 Prius Plug-in
vxdiag, vxdiag, vxdiag. gotta get used to recommending this one.

4) 2007 Prius Two
I use VXDIAG also works great. VXDIAG has full TIS software. It’s on sale for $69 at VXDIAGSHOP.
I have one works good plug and play win7 or xp.

5)2007 Prius II
A good code reader is the VXDIAG powered by techstream.
Works with a laptop.
Full hybrid decode.

6)2008 Prius V
There's an alternative to the mini vci it's a VXDIAG. It's pretty plug and play. It plugs into the OBD port and then has a USB Plug to your pc.
I have one. Works good.

7) 2010 Prius V
if your computer illiterate buy the VXDIAG. buy the prius/Lexus model. has full factory software
techstream.
It's the dongle that plugs into the OBD connector and then USB's into your laptop. pretty plug and play.

8) 2006 Prius II
The Mini VCI is available with two different firmware versions, 1.4.1 and 2.0.4 . All the cheap cables use the early 1.4.1 firmware. I now use a VXDIAG Toyota cable that has it's own firmware.
On my own 2006.
The 1.4.1 will cause error codes as soon as it is connected. It can not clear the codes. Most of the codes are "U" which are Can Bus errors. The crappy cable causes the can bus errors.
A 2.0.4 cable will connect and clear the codes. It's really slow.
The VXDIAG cable connects and performs the health check much quicker than any Mini VCI cable. It's night and day difference.
Errors caused by a Mini VCI cable do no permanent harm to your car. But you will need a code reader capable of removing them.

9) 2014 Prius III
VX Diag runs much cleaner and glitch free than MVCI, in my experience (have both) and worth the extra $50 or so to get into.

10)
Like any other issue with a G2 Prius the codes that the car has logged will tell you exactly whats the issue. You should have a red triangle which is a master caution alarm and maybe a car icon on the mfd. If so you need a OBD code reader. Its pretty much necessary on a old used G2.
I like my VXDIAG Prius OBD code reader. It runs on a laptop via its usb. Real easy to install. There on sale now for $69 and have full Toyota techstream software and work great. It will pull all hybrid trouble codes and tell you whats the issue.
Without the exact codes anything we tell you is supposition. It will save you alot of $$$ and time troubleshooting.
VXDiag VCX NANO for TOYOTA TIS Techstream V14.00.018 WIFI Version

11)2014 Prius Three
I run both mvci and VXDIAG on an XP 32-bit OS, fully dedicated laptop with anti-virus turned off. I'm not IT savvy and can't speak to windows 10 set-up regarding either, but tech savvy types seem to be able to install both on 10. Agree that with 32-bit, both install with ease on my ~2006 Dell Latitiude.
I find the added cost of VXDIAG well worth it. My mvci can be buggy, refusing to connect to certain ecu's, or connects inconsistently. It's slow on the draw, making live data reading a challenge or an impossibility. VXDIAG is smooth and instantaneous with live data. I've said before, I'm not sure how the real $1500 Techstream could work much more seamlessly. So if you're looking for a can't miss code reader, mvci is a no-brainer at ~$20. If you're looking for a bit higher level diagnostic capability, go VXDIAG.
All of this said, it's possible my mvci is just shit. It appears there are several versions of various dubiousness available, packaged in various ways - seemingly seller's choice, a real wild-west product in it's presentation. VXDIAG actually comes in a real, professional-grade appearing box, and at least gives the appearance of a more tightly controlled hack.
Vxdiag Toyota Mini Vci 1
Vxdiag Toyota Mini Vci 2
Vxdiag Toyota Mini Vci 3
11) 2007 Prius II
VXDIAG Nano Powered by TIS. It must have TIS software.
I have had Torque when I had a Samsung phone and I have Mini and VXDIAG. The VX connects every time and very stable on my XP laptop.

12)2007 Prius Touring
VXDIAG at vxdiagshop for $69 works with an xp laptop has full Toyota techstream software easy to set up on laptop. Includes obd connector. It will pull every code the car throws.
Hundreds of nice xp laptops on most For $25. Overnight the VXDIAG.
But foto is probably right bad hybrid battery most likely ground fault. To test that disconnect the 12 volt battery then reconnect that will erase all the hybrid codes and allow the car to start up and run till it throws s code again.
if you see a little car icon top left corner of the mfd you have a bad hybrid battery.

13) 2010 Prius IV
I have one works great easy to set up win 7 or 10 laptop will pull all codes and give readouts on every hybrid battery parameter a must if you own a 2010 Prius. Save you a ton of money pull the codes with all suffixes post them here and we Will tell you what ails you.
Good luck.

VXDIAG BMW does not have user manual.  Because it is much easier use than common ICOM devices.
1)
If you buy VXDIAG and BMW HDD/SSD together from us, VX Manager is installed, ISTA software is activated.
Connect vxdiag vcx plus or vxdiag vcx se interface with computer, check  device connection in VX Manager.
Then connect vcx with vehicle and ready to diagnose and program BMW using ISTA.
Connect Vxdiag Vcx Se Bmw
Connect Vxdiag Bmw
2)
But if you order BMW license separately or buy a new version BMW ISTA software HDD/SSD, it requires activation.
Open TOOL program on desktop and send ID to us.  You'll receive a activation key to activate ISTA software.
Ista Activation

If you had "faculty ICOM vehicle connection" error when perform programming with ISTA-P, please enter from ISTA-D.
BMW programming requires entering from ISTA-D as well.

Does VXDIAG Compatible with VIDA 2015A?

Does VXDIAG support Vida in J2534 mode? Is VXDIAG compatible with VIDA 2015A?

Customer problem:
I tried to connect my 2001 Volvo S80 with vxdiag through J2534 mode (I don't have Volvo license activated).
vxdiag vcx plus will communicate with vehicle, read VIN and read all control models. But when started vida software it suddenly shuts down and failed to run again.
So does the vxdiag support VIDA in J2534 mode?
Pass Thru 1

Solution:
VXDIAG does not support VIDA in J2534 mode. You have to purchase Volvo license to use with vxdiag unit.

Another question:
Is VXDIAG compatible with original VIDA 2015A software?
No.  VXDIAG is compatible with VIDA 2014D software only.
To use VIDA 2015A, recommend use DiCE unit.

Will VXDIAG VCX NANO Perform GM ABS Brake Bleed?

Yes, VXDIAG VCX NANO is able to perform GM ABS brake bleeding.

User experience:
1)
I picked up a vxdiag vcx nano gm interface and performed the auto bleed procedure on the ABS control. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!! Now I have pedal height and brakes that I haven't seen since this rig was new.
Flushed many times over the last 300k miles. It doesn't even come close to the effectiveness of using the Tech 2 on it. But to answer your question, I flushed after and then re-initiated the ABS with the tech 2.

This alone was well worth money.

2)
Should have my  vxdiag vcx nano clone unit something this week, and will go through it with a fine tooth comb to see that is really needed.
On tech2win, although the op is stating that its working in 64 bit mode, really want to go through it to double check if it needs to run in win 7 compatible mode for everything to work “correctly” instead.
GDS2 is run in VM mode under a XP shell so that should be trouble free, but need to check out SDS to see if it has a connection to AC delco/if it has been set up with some sort of an asian account to pull down firmware files. Here, got a feeling that you would need to get a one day subscription in order to pull down the firmware from GM, but want to see if it can still used firmware files that have been stored without needing a SDS account.
Hence if you do need an account to pull firmware files since you can’t find them elsewhere, you want to pull down all the firmware file for your car and store them when you do have that one day account.
As for cycling the ABS pump with either a tech II or tech2win with the vxdiag vcx nano for gm, and note that you do the procedure before you power flush/bleed, then after as well.
also, since the abs pump is not used much for most drivers, and you do have a vxdiag vcx nano gm on hand, not a bad idea to run the pump about twice a year. This will cycle the stagnant fluid out of the pump, to refill it with fluid that has been recirculating; but still do a complete power brake flush around every two years still.
