It’s a 2014 GM Volt with fault code P0AFA. Car turns on but will not move, after a failed charge and ‘unable to charge’ message. How to solve this problem and clear fault code? Use the VXDIAG method with a laptop or Xtool D7S to clear the fault code. Many users say the xtool D7S can clear this code.

Here is the clue:

Xtool D7S or D8/D9 indead will clear the P0AFA code. Autel MaxiSys scanners also capable.

Meth path:

HPCM2 module > Special Functions> Reset Functions>Hybrid/EV Battery Contactor Open Reasons Reset> Reset.

The tool will walk you through the process; there is a point where you need to shut off the ignition, open and close the drivers door and then wait a few minutes for the modules to go to sleep.

One of our customers used the Xtool d7s to clear the codes, and the car totally shut down, had to buy and install a new 12 volt battery. Do not recommend ‘Clear all DTC’s’.

 

Gettng VXDiag vcx nano gm adapter with 2 CAN buses support and need software (GDS2) is not that hard as you think. And it’s way cheaper, than buying a dedicated scanner, i.e Xtool D7S.

Most newer 2019+ GM models manufactured by SAIC GM Motors should use RDS3 diagnostic software, including the new GL8.

VXDIAG (VCX NANO, VCX SE, VCX Multi Tool) is compatible with the RDS3 diagnostic software.

Where to get the RDS3 diagnostic software?

VXDIAG does not provide a separate download link for the software.

It is only included in the 2TB HDD hard drive.

VXDIAG GDS2 Failed to Read 2019 Buick Encore VIN Solution

Problem:

This is a 2019 Buick Enclave, Chinese model. The VXDIAG VCX NANO GM GDS2 software is unable to automatically detect the vehicle’s VIN. Manual selection still fails to recognize the VIN.

Any solution?

Solution:

The antivirus software must be turned off, otherwise the cracked software and device drivers will be deleted.

Most newer GM models manufactured by SAIC GM Motors should use RDS3 diagnostic software, including the new GL8.
It is recommended to use the VXDIAG VCX SE along with a 2TB hard drive HDD.

The RDS software is included in the hard drive.

” The order came without a box, instruction booklet or USB cable.

Found a few online walkthroughs to help with order of software install. Once installed works exactly as it should.

Got this to work to program my Saturn Sky TPMS tire pressure placard table to turn off the warning light!

The default menus in Tis2Win did not have the action that I needed for my car.

However, I found older versions of the tool (.bin) files online that did have the previous menus for the scanner software which is exactly what I needed.

With the older version of the virtual scanner tool, I was also able to program another key fob.

If you are having electrical problems with your vehicle, you need this. The capabilities of this unit are exceptional for its price. Handles the “big boy” problems without spending thousands of dollars. Needs a little research and tweaking, but “dealer level” repairs are possible with this unit. If you don’t like getting ripped off by your local dealer or shop, check this out. ”

 

Install VXDIAG VCX NANO GM on Win7 32bit Review (June 2025)

Here comes the user feedback on VXDIAG VCX NANO GM software Win7 32bit installation.

 

“It took me quite a while to get it working, and had to use a number of different instructions to figure it all out. What worked for me:

First, don’t connect the device to the computer until after you’ve installed everything.

Windows 7 32-bit (the driver did not work on 64-bit and required re-installing to 32-bit).
Windows 7 Service Pack 1, and the “Visual C++ 2015 Redist” from Microsoft.
(SP1 is a requirement for the C++ redistributable, and that is a requirement for the software or else it throws errors about missing .dll files)
Turn off User Account Control from Control Panel -> User Accounts.
Allow unsigned driver installation (search internet for instructions using gpedit.msc)

Using the flash drive included with the purchase, install the following in this order:
Install Tech2Win (it will throw errors about unsigned drivers – accept those)
Install GIS2
Install VX Manager
Now connect the vcx nano device to your computer’s USB port.

Open Tech2Win, select North America. Wait for the initialization to complete.
Close the software.
Reboot computer.”

Once installed works exactly as it should. Can do all Tech2 functions on my 2002 Trans-Am.

 

VXDIAG Reprogram GM Volt 2012 HPCM2 with Techline Connect on Win10

 

Another GM Volt HPCM2 reprogramming review using VXDIAG VCX NANO GM scanner and Techlinne Connect subscription.

 

“I have a 2012 Volt that keeps throwing a bogus code about low coolant in the high voltage battery coolant reservoir. Not often, maybe once a year or once every 6 months. I have no idea why it is doing this. I tried the plug that basically hardwires the right resister to the leads. I checked and even cleaned up and resoldered the leads from the sensor where they go into the wiring harness and still, sometimes it just trips. When it does, the HPCM2 needs to be reprogrammed. I finally got tired of taking it to the dealership and decided to try the VXDIAG VCX Nano. I’d post the latest on how I successfully pulled it off.

1: Use a windows 10 computer. Windows 11 may work, but I didn’t try.
2: Order a VCX Nano. It went on sale for $105.
3: Download the latest VX Manager software installer from the vxdiagshop.com site where you ordered your VCX Nano. Surprisingly, that appears to be clean.
4: When installing, check the box for J2354 Passthru driver, NOT any of the manufacturer specific ones and NOT the GM ones.
5: Go to acdelcotds.com, create an account, and buy the $45, 1-VIN software subscription for 2 years.
6: After buying that, go back to the subscriptions page. You will see an ‘Add VIN‘ link, but only if you’re logged in and you have to log in again every single time you go there. They must have some of the worst web application developers out there. Click it. It will take you to a page where you can download the TLC (Techline Connect) installer.) Fear not. On the pricing page, a license for Techline Connect is over $4,300 per year. Don’t worry, you won’t need a license, but you will need the software.
7: Run the installer. When it completes, it will run Techline Connect. Close it. The username and password you created on acdelcotds.com will not work in the username and password fields to login to Techline Connect, so don’t bother trying.
8: Go back to acdelcotds.com, Login, and again click the ‘Add VIN’ link again. On the page that comes where you downloaded Techline Connect, leave the ‘Run as admin’ checkbox unchecked and click ‘Launch Techline Connect’. When it runs, it will see there are a boatload of updates that it does not have and it will go through them all. It is going to install a lot of software.
9: When it’s all done, it will close. Again go back to acdelcotds.com and repeat above process for launching Techline Connect. This time, you should make it all the way into the application. Click on the SPS option on the icons in the list of icons on the menu at the left of the window.
10: VXDIAG should show up as a device option. After this, the VIN should be automatically detected and then you can keep clicking Next and make it through the process. When it gets to the modules, it’s a much longer list than most vehicles. Find the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 option and click it. Then, just keep clicking next and agreeing to everything until it’s done.

After programming is complete, you may need to turn the car off and turn it back on again if the check engine light is lit.

Start to to finish, you’re looking at around 1 to 2 hours depending on how fast you are.

For ~$147 I now have the capability to clear codes whether it’s a real problem or not.”

VXDIAG VCX NANO GM is Banned by Acdelco?

Problem:

I needed to program and update my pcm on my 2018 Cruze before it grenades itself. Got the VXDIAG VCX NANO GM J2534 scanner, when signing up ACDelcoTDS website it says “Access unauthorized with destination system error. This is more than likely caused by the use of a counterfeit MDI or MDI2”

Any solution?

Solution:

Vxdiag vcx nano/vcx se/vcx fd as a j2534 device is fine but using it as an MDI will get you banned.

Remove the driver for “GM GDS2/T2W” and “SGM RDS” and just leave Passthru driver. Don’t install GDS2/T2W crack software with Passthru driver on the same PC and you should not be banned.

After that log in ACDelco website then download Techline Connect.

Here comes the honest review of VXDIAG VCX NANO GM on an ancient Chevrolet Blazer.

 

“This worked perfectly fine on my 1997 Chevy Blazer. I mainly got it to do a crank sensor relearn, but turns out only 1998 and newer Blazers supported that special function. I read live data though to check everything else out, and it all works as it should.

I have a newer scan tool “Harbor Freight” and an older MacTool code reader that is supposed to read ABS too but, they will not communicate with my 1997 Blazer.

The reviews claiming there are issues are not being truthful, and are due to user error. Just follow the proper install procedures, go to the VXDIAG website and download the current version of ‘VX Manager’ (V1.8.9.0601).

Plenty of instructional videos. Figure it out, it’s not hard.”

VXDIAG Driver “GM GDS2 and Tech2win Not Installed” Solution

Problem:

Failed to install driver for VXDIAG VCX NANO GM scanner. VX Manager gives error MDI driver not installed and  device license for this application is invalid or expired.

 

Solution:

Usually, you don’t need to install SGM RDS driver. It is for Chinese brands.

If need to diagnose Chinese GM with RDS, your license has expired. Update license before installing the SGM RDS driver.

 

 

Update:

Got the license update. When installing driver again, it says GM GDS2 or Tech2win Software Not Installed.

 

Solution:

Just as indicated, install GDS2 and Tech2win software, then install this driver.

How to Solve VXDIAG VCX NANO GM SPS2 Error E9043?

Problem:

I had a problem setting up vxdiag vcx nano gm scanner with Techline Connect for Volt 2012 SPS2 online programming.  There is no VXDIAG or J2534 VCI device selection. It also reported an error “SPS2 error E9043 The VCI device is currently performing another Techline Connect Task.” when launching Techline Connect.

You forget to install the Passthru driver.

Install Passthru driver in VX Manager. Then you will see VXDIAG device option.

Run VXDIAG installed, change the connection from Auto to USB and select PassThru driver.
Next on Techline Connect, you should see Vxdiag option.
