VXDIAG GDS2 Failed to Read 2019 Buick Encore VIN Solution

Problem:

This is a 2019 Buick Enclave, Chinese model. The VXDIAG VCX NANO GM GDS2 software is unable to automatically detect the vehicle’s VIN. Manual selection still fails to recognize the VIN.

Any solution?

Solution:

The antivirus software must be turned off, otherwise the cracked software and device drivers will be deleted.

Most newer GM models manufactured by SAIC GM Motors should use RDS3 diagnostic software, including the new GL8.
It is recommended to use the VXDIAG VCX SE along with a 2TB hard drive HDD.

The RDS software is included in the hard drive.

How to clear code P0AFA using VXDIAG VCX NANO GM GDS2?

Here is the user’s working expense:

“It is a 2013 GM Volt with a few bad cells. The cell voltage dropped below the threshold again to get the RPP error and locked out of charging. Torque pro app shows the fault code P1E00 and P0AFA. But it does not clear the codes. For installing GDS2. First you have to install the GM MDI software. Then GDS2. Then VX Manager. At least that’s what worked for me.

 

How to clear code P0AFA?

Used Win10 laptop with VXDIAG VCX NANO code reader connected with USB cable.

Opened VXDIAG software, then diagnostics, then GDS2 software, it installed GDS2, then opened GDS2, next clicked find VIN, found the car, then followed instructions.

• last tab, “DTCs Display”
• select the item in list and click “Reset”. Once text above “Reset” button says “reset” exit the “Clear Secured High Voltage DTCs” procedure which should put you back at procedures menu
• go back to “Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module 2” menu and select “Display DTC’s”
• Click the “Clear DTC” button. It took me to another page with list of DTCs at top and had to add the DTC to list at bottom as a way to “selecting” it.
• Click Ok, twice. At that point my DTC was clear and car started charging.

I checked to see if there were any other DTCs but did not see any. I turned the car of and it is currently charging.”

My advice to others trying to clear these codes is: Invest in the right tools and follow the step-by-step process. It saves you a lot of hassle and a trip to the dealer.

GDS2 or Diagbox for 2020 Opel Grandland X?

One of our customers reported that VXDIAG VCX SE PSA diagbox software 9.85 read the VIN on his 2020 Opel Grandland X European model, but could not proceed, diagbox software stuck after reading VIN. Images attached:

VXDIAG diagbox software does not support Opel Vehicles. If the Grandland X is 2020/2021 then is legacy Opel but not PSA models with Diagbox. Crossland X 2020/2021 is still on GDS2. GDS2 latest version 2024.05 does have Opel Grandland X/Crossland X 2020/2021 listed.

Also you open an account at PSA by yourself and buy a subscription and you will be able to install it without pay to someone else.

The Opel/Vauxhall coverage is up to 2018 when the Opel went to PSA.

So you need EU GDS2 that covers Opel up to 2021. GDS2 Global/NA has no Opel 2020 coverage.

To be much more clear. If you can do diagnostic in that car by GDS2 then you need to buy Legacy Opel SPS Programming subscription but not Diagbox token.

To do SPS programming you will need an account ( public servicebox-parts.com ) and you have to buy an SPS Programming subscription.
You need Legacy Opel subscription if you was able to use GDS2 in that car.

VXDIAG Tech2win ‘Cannot Find File Specified’ Solution

If you had the error “cannot find the file specified” when install tech2win for vxdiag vcx nano gm scanner. Here is the solution.

Solution:

Reinstall t2winstall program in GDS2Install folder

If system fails to install t2winstall program , you have to download full GDS2/Tech2win software and install again.

GM Volt Gen2 Android Auto Update by VXDIAG VCX NANO and SPS

My car is a generation 2 GM Volt year 2017 but was made early 2016. I got the vxdiag vcx nano gm scanner and SPS2 subscription ($40 for two years per VIN unlimited) last night, rushed the Android auto update in late night, haven’t had a chance to look around much at the software.

it can update gen2 or any GM car, but only with the latest software available. Android auto is not available for gen1.

My Volt Gen2 had apple car play, but no Android auto. It’s software version was definitely old. I’m not sure about the new apps, I’ll investigate. This only gives me access to updates GM as specifically released for this module.

It went through the sps software. To update my infotainment system (human machine interface) I actually had to download some software onto a USB, and uploaded that into the system. Then had to do a separate overall update to it.

I select which module I want to update, and it pulls from GM database the files. If there is an update to that module that GM has released, then you can access it. I can’t update say my gen two infotainment system with an entirely different modules software, say a Corvette infotainment system, if that makes sense. At least, that’s my understanding.

Still testing the device.  I’m curious what else you can do with it besides scanning, live data, component actuations.

Can I Install VXDIAG VCX NANO GM GDS2 T2W on Windows 11?

Possible to set up vxdiag vcx nano gm gds2 and tech2win software on Windows 11 operating system?

I am pleased to report that the GDS2 software as supplied by VXDiag installs and runs ok on my laptop using Windows 11 Pro 64 bit. So far I have used the laptop and GM VCX Nano successfully with Tech2Win on my ’09 Corvette Z06, and with GDS2 on my ’14 Silverado LTZ.

Two observations:

The defender anti-virus supplied with Win 11 and some third party anti-virus programs do not like the VXDiag software suite. They will block the download, installation, and running of the software. Care must be taken to adjust the settings in the anti-virus software to prevent this.

The VXDiag supplied Tech2Win and GDS2 software does not have 100% functionality as the real GM software. They cannot communicate with all the car’s modules at one time but can communicate with each module individually. This is the same as under Windows 10.

Install Opel Vauxhall 2021 into GDS2?

Question: have VXDIAG VCX NANO for Opel, how to install new OV Opel/Vauxhall 2021 deliverable into GDS2?

I need this for insignia MY21 and this is still on GM platform, besides…Opel 2021 package is available as you can see in the screenshot, just need newest gds2.exe…. Model is available, but i can’t install package 2021.3 or 2021.2 or 2021.1.

 

Answer:

Opel/vauchall from 2021 will need Diagbox due to the PSA platforms being used.

 

In the GDS2 of Opel, you need to check if there is such a model, but there may not be. If it is GM 2021, there will be no problem.
