VXDIAG VCX SE vs Godiag J2534 Which to Choose?

Godiag brand launched a super cheap J2534 cable (Godiag GD101 J2534) which works for many brands. Which is better to choose? VXDIAG VCX SE or the Godiag J2534?

Both devices can be used as j2534 interface for multiple software, Techstream, HDS, ODIS, etc. Also compatible with 3rd party software pcmflash, bitbox etc. They should work on any diagnose software meeting SAE j2534 passthru regulations device.

The difference is that VXDIAG not only works as J2534 passthru but also as an emulator. VXDIAG will emulate software like OEM VCI.

Godiag J2534 just works as j2534 passthru.

Here are some test reports from godiag users:

-It works well with pcmflash.

-Not well with HDS. Live data disconnect every 10 seconds.

– is not fully compatible with Techstream even after using their drivers.

-Xentry passthru is a hit or-miss. cannot access to all modules.

-works with Renault and Nissan software but needs to replace registry

– godiag works with odis without problem

– get godiag j2534 and used it with GM sps2 with my paid subscription BUT it wouldn’t program everything, only some of the modules I tried worked.

-I’ve tried a GoDiag J2534 Nano with Nissan Consult 3 Plus. I could not get it to work. It refuses to connect to the car made in Japan.

 

If you need something just to see fault codes, then Godiag j2534 works fine. It is very cheap. But this is not a universal tool for performing any functions.

Godiag cannot and will not perform any setting changes, cannot communicate with a vast # of computers etc and you cannot do any programming with it.

While the VXDIAG VCX SE can be used as J2534 passthru device for OEM online programming.  Godiag does not support DoIP protocol while VXDIAG does.  VCX SE also allows to connect via WiFi and WLAN. Godiag connects via USB only.

Can VXDIAG VCX SE J2534 work with TgFlash?

Tgflash is a complete solution for ECU flash memory reading virtual reading and reprogramming. Tgflah will communicate with ECU via J2534 passthru devices, Openport, mongoose, Scanmtaik, ENET cables.  Can i use vxdiag vcx se j2534 passthru with Tgflash?

 

Here is the clue.

Some users have tested vxdiag with tgflash but all had no luck.

It will display this J2534 interface it is not compatible with Tgflash.

 

VXDIAG VCX SE Tested with Nissan Consult+

How to configure VXDIAG J2534 with Nissan Consult III+?

You modify registry and DiagnosticTool.ini file to add your interface name exactly as it is in the registry.

 

Append the following lines to the file C:\CONSULT-III_plus\System\Application\ApplicationData\CommonSetting\DiagnosticTool.ini

Question:

Currently looking at the VXDIAG VCX SE or MULTI Tool for all brands including laptop - Have looked at the cardaq but don't know what to choose?

Here is the clue.

CarDag doesn't emulate original VCIs as VXDIAG does. VXDIAG emulates OEM VCIs - also supports J2534 like cardaq.

For example, Cardag cannot work with Ford IDS, only FJDS -FDRS. VXDIAG works with all IDS, Forscan, FJDS, FDRS.

CarDag cannot be replaced for a VCX SE or C6 VCI used in XDOS either. CarDag only works with xentry passthru version. With the Passthru and XPT devices you cannot work a priori on K lines, therefore older vehicles that use them will not be covered. VXDIAG works with both XDOS and Xentry Passthru.

CarDag device can be used as a simple Passthru device, it is not a 1:1 replacement for OEM VCI.

Cardag Plus 3

Cardag Plus 3, openport 2.o, scanmatik 2 pro, Autel maxiFlash and Bosch MDI they are pretty much the same. Only that the Cardaq supports passthru-2 and DOIP and it's approved by all OEMs, but if you're on a budget you can get a good quality GM MDI clone (there's even a Bosch firmware that you can put on it)  and that works fine for most applications.

How to use VXDIAG VCX SE with PCMFlash?

PCMflash software has been tested working fine with vxdiag vcx se j2534 passthru. One of our customers has tested it with the ktm bench dongle.

Vxdiagshop.com engineer has tested it working with the new pcmtuner dongle containing pcmflash with 67 modules.  You can use any vcx se interfaces.  If don’t need software license, go for the vxdiag vcx se hardware unit only.

 

How to set up vxdiag vcx se with pcmflash?

Download VX Manager 1.8.9 on vxdiagshop.com Download area or vxdiag.net

Install vx manager setup

Press Next

Finish installing setup.

Connect vcx se with PC with USB

Run VX Manager from the desktop

Go to Diagnostic tab, install Passthru driver

Check device status

Update firmware and license if it is not the latest version

Connect vxdiag vcx se j2534 with ecu thru godiag full protocol jumper cable follow the wiring diagram
