VXDIAG or Mongoose for Volvo VDASH?

As titled, VXDIAG and Mongoose which is a better diagnostic interface for Volvo VDASH software?

 

Here is the clue.

Mongoose:

VDASH has added support for Mongoose, but it must be an original device.

mongoose clone doesn’t work with VDash.  But he works fine with vida.

There’re plenty of various devices on the market, best one are J2534-devices compatible with Super J2534 or Mongoose JLR.

Another option is VXDIAG (VCM II – Rotunda Diagnostics or compatible). The basic diagnostics seem to work, the DIM languages have been tested too. The overall functionality is briefly the same.

 

Some are reporting that VXDIAG doesn’t work with the VDASH program. Others have tested it and it turns out the program recognizes the adapter and connects to the car without any problems.

Which is better for VDASH?

VXDIAG is slower in P3 CEM pin decoding than DiCE or Mongoose interface, but it works.

 

We don’t recommend using VXDIAG Volvo for ECU programming (language change, configuration change, engine optimizations).
Using VXDIAG for ECU programing is at your own risk.

VXDIAG Volvo Missing VIDAMonitor File Solution

Problem:

Got the VXDIAG VCX SE Pro 3 in 1 with Volvo license. When installing the patch for VIDA 2014D, it said VidaMonitor file was not found.

Error: “Windows can’t find the C:/VIDA/VIDAMonitor file. Make sure the name is spelled correctly and try again.” Any idea.

Solution:

This error indicates that the VIDA 2014D software is not installed properly.
Disable anti-virus program.

Reinstall VIDA software.

 

VXDIAG or Mongoose Cable for Volvo Vdash?

Here comes the user review on vxdiag and Volvo Vdash software.

I got both vxdiag and cheap mongoose cable.
vxdiag: it worked really well with Vdash on win10 64bit and Vida 2014d.
mongoose clone: only works with VIDA 2014d (tested on virtual machine win 7 32 bits)

I use vxdiag vcx se pro which works good with vdash (slowly) on V60 2014.

The craking CEM pin number take too much time. 26H=9.5%. But it worked. If need a faster calculation, you might need a ENET cable.

No need for the expensive Dice unit like before. The software is free on D5T5.com.

Need to install Passthru driver in VX manager. Select interface as VXDIAG-J2534.
I was able to diagnose trouble codes on another 2018 S90. However, adding more features like navigation, video in motion, etc.. will require decoding the pins of the CEM and ECM (require VDash Pro dealer).

 

 

VXDIAG VCX NANO Volvo VIDA Tested on S40 2005

Since this vxdiag vcx nano volvo scanner is practically new and there is little information about it, I offer this text for review.  I am driving a Volvo S40 II year 2005.

We all know that there is an original Volvo vida dice. We also know that there is a Chinese copy of the above original (the price is around 5 times less, but the functionality is not complete). And now a fresh one appeared: the functionality (as they promise) is more than a replica, and the price is cheaper than a DiCE copy - I took it for the test. I ordered it on a well-known site www.vxdiagshop.com... here it is.

To work with him, you need to install Vida software (There are many places where she is - 2014d, there is no point in talking about her, and so much has been written).
So we installed Vida 2014D, tried to turn it on, let's move on.
To work with vxdiag volvo, you need a special software: vx manager (program), it is free, it weighs a penny and is easy to download on vxdiag.net official website.  There at the bottom of the VX Manager
The current version is V1.6. 2 Build 0902
The latest build date is 2019.09.02 and from the right - download.
Always update the driver to latest version.
Download, unpack, launch. (The antivirus will appear when downloading, but everything is fine.). We connect the device.
Open the program:

We look at the check marks on the side of the icons.  Passthru and Volvo vida driver are required to be installed.

After all that has been done, if you want, you can climb up and down the program, but in fact, at this stage, we don't need it, and we don't need it anymore. We close everything, turn off the laptop.
Next, go to the car, turn on the computer, connect the vcx nano interface to the car, turn on Volvo Vida software (as usual), but in the configuration we select another tool !:

Everything works.
In theory, the device is more convenient than the original or its Chinese copy (but there is anyone else), but in terms of functionality it is no worse than a Chinese copy 100%! When testing the vxdiag device, I turned on (activated) the window closer - everything worked out. Well, I carried out diagnostics with erasing errors. No bugs or glitches were noticed. I will continue the test at the end of the week and try to update the review, maybe I am tormented by doubts that there is a very interesting function for this device, but more on that later.
