“It is a Chevy Bolt. The infotainment system not functioning. The screen worked but it would always freeze at the “Bolt EV” logo.
I took it to the dealer they told that the radio module was bad and needed to be replaced. The quote was for $2400.
That seemed high so I looked for alternatives. I found a supposedly new radio module on eBay for $85 so I decided to fix it myself. Although the radio module lives behind the glovebox, it can only be removed upward, requiring the entire dashboard to be removed. With the help of the GM service manual, I tackled the job and eventually got the radio module replaced. The system now works but it seems like there is some radio module specific programming or updating that needs to be done. The screen now has buttons to control heated seats, an option my car does not have, and when I plug my phone into the USB, it will treat it as an iPod but it won’t activate CarPlay. It seems like my options are to get a GDS2 adapter and attempt the programming myself or pay the dealer more money to do it for me.
To finish the story, I ended up purchasing a VXDIAG VCX Nano GM scanner and paid $45 for a two year subscription for my VIN so I can apply updates myself. The process, especially with software and drivers for the VCX Nano, is not for the faint of heart but I eventually got the computer connected to the car and got an update applied to the radio module. Everything is working as it should now and I didn’t have to give the dealer any more money!
Total breakdown:
$300 to dealer to evaluate the problem and tell me the radio module was bad
$85 for a replacement radio module from eBay. Listing said it was new but I’m pretty sure it had been in a car previously. There were preset radio stations. The radio module is not VIN locked.

Problem:
I tried to install vxdiag vcx nano gm software on three of my Surface Pro 2017 models (Windows 10 Pro 32bit) Everything would work except the Tech2win software. CANDI not connected. Not matter what I tried. When launching Tech2 the popup to choose connection to the MDI wasn’t appearing. I looked everywhere for the usb drivers with no luck.
Possible reason and solution:
The issue with the Surface is they all have a usb-c port…and only 1 port and the tech2win software when it loads it also loads a usb driver.
The driver with the tech2win software is not compatible with the surface drivers. Some users have even tried to load different drivers in the surface in the usb port with no luck. But the surface will load and run GDS without issue. It even see’s the vcx nano in the gds software.
Some very old software like Tech2Win also has to be happy with the emulated serial port, the Windows version must allow proper control of the emulated hardware to the old program, etc. A lot of little factors that can make these things painful. Part of the reason you will still keep an older laptop that has a real serial port (and runs Windows 7, tech2win prefer 32bit).

I got it to work with another laptop running Windows 10 Pro.
I think the problem is that the Surface Pro runs a usb 3.0 port and the other laptop has a 2.0 port. So if you only have a 3.0 port you may run into issues. A possible workaround would be a usb port splitter that supports usb 2.0.
Problem:
I got the ODIS V23 installed and vxdiag vcx se 6154 interface connected to car, when run odis and start diagnostic, it threw an error vcx vw crash. Any solution?
Solution:
Driver issue. VX Manager is corrupt.
Install vx manager driver again.
Make sure the 6154 driver is installed.

If you cannot see any license in VXDIAG VX Manager, here are the possible solutions.
Possible solutions:
1.Update firmware, then update license, check license again. Make sure you have the corresponding software driver installed.
If have a poor network, you may fail to update firmware.
Change a USB port and good network connection (or WiFi hotspot) to update firmware & license.
2. If try solution 1, still same problem. Reinstall vx manager on the same PC and check license again.
3. Or install vx manager driver on another laptop and check license.
Problem:
I got the Renault clip installed on the VXDIAG VCX SE unit. When running software, it says the Renault license is invalid.
Update firmware ok, update license same error. Any solution?

We checked via teamviewer and found the device is missing Renault license.
To use VCX SE with Renault clip software you need to have Renault software license activated.

Tools you will need:
current car pcm
Ford VCM obd scanner (vxdiag vcx nano ford/mazda is the one i use)
Mazda iDS (install guide and download link here)
incode by outcode app (Play Store Link FREE)
a used or new replacement pcm
2 key fobs
Procedure:
plug in the vxdiag vcx nano mazda scan tool to the obdII port under the steering wheel
Open iDS and select start new session>all other
it will read your pcm and recognise your vehicle
if you have dsc select yes
advanced keyless entry > select correct option for you
Check vehicle information and then continue
enter odometer reading if you want to (not required)
select module programming
select programable module installation > pcm
set ignition to on
set ignition back to off when prompted
Install a new module in vehicle. when this prompt comes up unplug your pcm and plug in the replacement
Take off the cover and undo all the bolts holding the pcm down. disconnect the air tubes at the front of the pcm
unplug these 4 connectors on the back of the pcm
set ignition to on
set ignition back to off when prompted
VXDIAG Mazda IDS will rewrite the data on the new pcm from your old one
set ignition back to on
set ignition to off again
Programming complete. if you cannot crank your car now you will have to run the pats function.
Go to body>security>PATS
follow on screen instructions then set ignition to on
select ignition key code erase and reprogram
download incode by outcode on google play store
check that vin is correct before continuing
this page has the OUTCODE you need. put that code into the incode by outcode app then press next when the app gives you an incode
put that outcode into the incode by outcode app and get your incode
type in incode provided by app

You will need 2 keys to start vehicle. After this page its pretty simple. Just follow on screen instructions until complete then you will have a working rx8 with a new pcm installed.
The tutorial might work on older Mazda, for newer models, you may need Mazda MDARS. The vxdiag vcx nano mazda can also be used as a J2534 passthru device with MDARS.
